Installation & Setup

Setting up Merchant Data Extractor requires no complex configuration:

Common Troubleshooting Scenarios

1. The extension icon is grayed out or shows no active data

Chrome extensions cannot execute on internal browser pages (such as chrome://, chrome-extension://, or the Chrome Web Store itself). Navigate to a public e-commerce or merchant webpage (e.g. an online catalog or product listing) and click the extension icon again.

2. Some fields (e.g., Seller Rating or SKU) show "Not Available"

Merchant Data Extractor reads visible elements rendered on the page. If the merchant page does not publicly list a seller feedback score, or if the product listing uses a non-standard dynamic script that has not fully finished rendering, the field may not be present in the initial DOM. Try refreshing the page, allowing it to load completely, and re-triggering the extraction.

3. Exported CSV shows formatting or special character issues in Excel

Merchant Data Extractor exports files in UTF-8 encoding with standard comma separation. If your version of Excel displays international currency symbols improperly, import the CSV using Excel's Data > From Text/CSV wizard with UTF-8 selected as the File Origin.

4. How to perform a clean reinstall

If you suspect an extension conflict or corrupted local cache, navigate to chrome://extensions, click "Remove" on Merchant Data Extractor, restart Google Chrome, and reinstall the extension fresh from the Chrome Web Store.
